Overview: Arthemia is a beautiful theme. Period. The theme features great use of typography to simply make a fantastic looking theme that is beautiful to look at and easy on the eyes.
Navigation: The navigation of Arthemia features a nice top bar navigation bar that contains the main navigation links to pages or other parts of your site that you believe belongs on the top bar. The bar features a dark grey background with light text which makes it contrast very nicely with the rest of the website and really stick out. The navigation is simple and also features the search on the far right side that allows for a consistent navigation experience.
The categories are below the headline and featured articles in Arthemia and it works surprisingly well. The feature large text and colorful bars over top of them. The navigation is very unique here and having a description of the category is a must in this theme as it really adds a full look to your content and makes it stand out in the categories section.
Advertisement: This theme does not support as many advertisements by default, mostly because they will definitely detract from the beauty of the design. However the theme does support a 468×60px banner advertisement above the navigation bar which is a usual placement for banner ads. There are places you would normally have an advertisement in Arthemia however the author just did not specify them so you could easy add some ads without taking to much away from the theme.
Content Display: The content on Arthemia is displayed very uniquely. The headline article is very prominently placed and features a big title and all the date and view information, which is a very cool touch. Beside the headline is the featured post sections featuring four articles and their thumbnails. All of the content is displayed with class and really shows through.
Below the categories section is the other most recent articles from the different categories. The category is listed above it and the titles are again in a perfect shade of blue and the thumbnails are yet again a different size, but everything just seems to work.
Sidebar: The sidebar features by default two mini columns or one larger column and is very simple to use. Here is where some more advertisements could be placed without taking to much away from the rest of the theme. The tags, categories, blogroll, and recent coments can all be displayed here and the layout on the default demo theme looks very good.
Conclusion: Arthemia is probably one of the best free (or premium) Wordpress themes I have ever seen. The color scheme of white, grey, and blue mixes perfectly with the simplicity of the design. The designer put a lot of work into all of the details of this theme and it shows. For a free theme, we give it a 9/10.
